FEATURED June 2010

My work is inspired by cinema, especially French New Wave, and I think my paintings have a film still quality to them, capturing moody moments in time, telling unfinished stories.  I love bold, strong colors such as red and black which evoke strong emotions, but at the same time I love the delicacy of sepia, which evokes a timeless, vintage quality. I’m also influenced by the 1960’s. I love the big, wild hair styles women wore! Some of my favorite artists are Man Ray, Picasso, Joseph Cornell,Irving Penn, and Jan Saudek.

To me, Sunday brunch means  mimosas and eggs benedict at a lively, crowded cafe with friends, with no deadlines or time restraints!

Regarding designers, I don’t have a specific favorite, but I do love vintage clothes from the 1960’s, and shoes from Camper and Costume National.
My favorite dress is anything black and simple,  because that is the most flattering on me! If it has a bow, that’s even better.
