Having been in NY the last 9 years, it’s interesting to see not just color but NEON color make a real comeback to the town that is known for wearing black. I’m seeing bright color pants, shoes, bags, accessories everywhere from old navy to Michael Kors. I think the trend started cautiously with sneakers from Nike and the like last year. Am I wrong?

Personally, I’m a fan. But like all things…moderation! As much as I loved my jacket, it’s best kept in 1993.

Jessica Alba is doing neon well, and just about as much as you can do at once. But then again she’s Jessica Alba so she can do whatever she wants.

Monkey has become L’s favorite little friend (aside from his big brother Mega of course). And is quickly becoming my favorite little friend, too, as he occupies the little nugget long enough for me to use the potty, stuff lunch in face or clean up Mini’s vomit.

Not to mention all these warning labels all over toys and cribs and clothing….”do not give this to your baby, it will kill him and you are a bad parent for even buying this though we want your money, we are not responsible for anything, talk to our lawyers…”

That said, my little nugget is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. M is the other. All the walking around in only sweat pants, all the times when I feel just a little pathetic how unkempt I look, all the breast infections that make giving birth seem not so bad…it’s all worth it when nugget gives me a smile.

Now the important stuff. Between the feedings and the diaper changes and the bouncing, I’ve managed to finally post some new dresses for spring! Spring has been a little late, but better late than never. If I was a celebrity and had a team of people helping me get back in shape and take care of the baby so I could go outside and get my picture taken, I’d probably wear this one today…

A life time interest in art lead me to study at the University of Michigan’s School Of Art And Design where I divided my time between printmaking and scientific illustration. This lead me to develop a process oriented drawing style characterized by extreme detail.

I have traveled extensively. My observations of people and customs of Europe, Asia and the Middle East have influenced my perception of the human body and it’s complex range of expression. This interest manifests itself primarily in the vast body of figurative drawing, painting and print making work I have produced over the course of the last decade.

For me Sunday brunch is a time to relax and see good friends. This normally happens for me when I’m on the road and get to see other artist I know from all over the states after an art fair. I guess many times it is Monday brunch …..but hey we’re all artists who cares what day things happen on as long as we get to enjoy each others company!

I always like dresses that are low cut in the back. As a woman’s back is such a lovely thing to see. I like a simple black dress with a boat cut neck in the front so it has kind of an old fashion look to it.

I’m inspired by people and nature. Always seeing new formations in the world around me makes me want to draw forever.

Ever since I can remember, I enjoyed making things. During sports events I always got in trouble, since I’d be the one doodling on the ground instead of catching the ball. I soon discovered painting and fell head over heels!  I enjoy all mediums, but oils and watercolors are my favorite.  Mixing these with found objects like vintage sewing papers or weathered wood brings a sense of whimsy to my art.

The subjects of my paintings are heavily inspired by my childhood in South Africa, filled with trips to the ocean and swimming in our pool. Today I live in a little cabin by a lake in Canada, and when the snow starts falling I turn to my easel to revisit all those beautiful memories. I also enjoy painting women dressed in flowing gowns, usually inspired by a vintage find – like a colorful scarf. I try to capture moments in their lives – perhaps moments of quiet reflection or taking a deep breath right before entering a huge event.

Sunday brunch at our house means my husband’s pumpkin waffles with real maple syrup…in bed… while my little ones jump around stealing my whip cream!

My favorite dress is a casual sky blue sundress with hints of the vintage 1950’s backyard picnics. I added a bit of hand embroidery just to give it that special touch.

Besides a great blog…Sunday brunch means taking time for myself and my loved ones to relax and spend time together after a week of hard work.

My favorite dress is any summer dress because it’s SUMMER!!! But besides those… I like to wear comfortable and casual things. I guess my favorite dress at the moment is a simple grayish brown knit dress from Express.

I find that there is beauty in just about anything if you allow yourself to see it.  I have always been inspired by a simple phrase or quote that says so much with just a few words.  I also find inspiration in a lot of music which is where a lot of my creativity comes from.  I need to find the right artist to listen to as I am creating a print to help me stay in the mood of the print when so much is going on around me.  When the right songs are on, my creativity simply flows onto my drawing pad.
