Dan-ah Kim
FEATURED October 2009
I was born in Seoul, Korea but moved to Mexico and then across the US on both coasts. I attended Pratt Institute and continue to live and work in Brooklyn, NY, dividing my time between making art and freelancing in film and television. My mixed-media artwork has been shown in galleries in California, Chicago, and New York. Id love for people who see my work to invent their own narratives relating to the pieces, start dreaming up a back story or journey, personalities for the characters, and a mood to put them in.
What is Sunday Brunch? A moment of leisure and a bit of luxury, to be able to take a break and enjoy good food and company. It’s hard to choose a favorite designer, but costume designer Jacqueline Durran comes to mind if just for the famous green dress in Atonement. My favorite dress I own is
probably a deep blue/black one with subtle silver threading throughout, because it looks like the night sky and it has pockets. I love a dress with pockets. I’m inspired by books, films, history, folklore, the skies and seas, travel, people with a lot of courage.
