FEATURED April 2010

I love fashion and that’s a good thing since by day I am a textile designer for the fashion industry.

My blog, “Looks Good To Me” is an illustrated inspiration journal of sorts that I use to catalog emerging trends, coveted items, outfit ideas and more. I love that it keeps me in the habit of drawing every day which is a must for any artist.

To me, Sunday Brunch is about food and friends. I prefer to stay in for brunch and host a group of people at my house. Even a small gathering at home is an excuse to get a little dressed up and set the table with my best stuff, it makes the party more festive that way.

I simply can’t pick a favorite designer, there are too many wonderful ones out there! Tsumori Chisato and Twinkle by Wenlan are standout favorites for great prints; Marni and Miu Miu always set my heart racing; Built By Wendy and Sunshine and Shadow are where I turn for great pieces that are within my budget; and Alexander McQueen was a brilliant genius that we lost much, much too soon. My favorite dress is (at the moment) a chambray button down tunic/dress from Rag & Bone. I love menswear mixing menswear pieces into my outfits and this dress is the perfect mix of masculine and feminine. I can wear it with anything for any occasion, it is perfectly me.

Everything inspires me but I guess I need to be a little more specific. I am inspired by anything that really gets it right. The right line, the right proportions, the right color, the right shape. Good design can always be boiled down to these things be it architecture, fine art, fashion design, decorative objects, etc. When something gets it right, that’s what really strikes a chord in me.
