First things first

I have some thoughts to share, but they can all wait. Because the Golden Globes happened and we must review.

If you guys don’t already follow Fashionista, you must. Hell, sign up for their daily newsletters. Because they’re funny and about as up-to-date as you’d ever want to be on all things, well, fashion related.

Their Golden Globe review consisted of a few select celebs in their pretty celeb gowns. But below each photo are a few choice tweets to make the whole experience so enjoyable first thing in the am with coffee. It’ll probably be just as enjoyable with lunch. Go here you must.

My favorite:

“Chris Farren @chrisfarren
Zooey Deschanel is wearing a Prada dress! I didn’t know they sold Prada on Etsy! So cool.”

My favorite looks:

It’s hard not to always pick Sofia Vergara. Oh that burlap sack sure looks good on her. Sofia in a Hawaiian print mumu? Pick. So Sofia in Vera Wang is not a hard choice. Pick!

Heidi! I love this Mama. Nudes and blush were all over the carpet (YAY!) and I’m partial, but this sleek almost slip-looking piece by Calvin Klein with low-key make up and that pop of color from the turquoise necklace makes Heidi Queen of the runway. It’s all confidence. She ain’t got nutin’ to prove.

Um, unlike the younguns of Glee….

I normally love Giles, but this dress is a little too….Chinese New Year? I appreciate the intricacies of the gown and the work that must have gone into the laser cute layers but perhaps a less voluminous skirt and perhaps a contrasting fabric to go with the bodice. The whole look is a little too mature for her.

And finally…

Has anyone seen Once Upon A Time? This dress reminds me of what the evil Queen would wear. I get that Lea probably wants to separate herself from her goodie goodie up tight character on Glee, but Sofia Loren would look a lot better in this Marchesa gown than little Lea. Revisit this one in 50 years, Lea.

But who am I kidding. These girls still look amazing. I love the red carpet parades!

From the comfort of her warm squishy bed.

“Now take this sweaty thing off my head!”

Capturing True Love

Oh, the ever elusive True Love. Try capturing it on camera. Tiffany’s, who’s in the business of True Love, has hired big wigs, Scott Schulman of The Sartorialist and his French gf (um, please be my bff), Garance Dore to do their bestest.

I like this one:

What do you think he’s reading to her? Is he doing all the voices? I hope so.

Get ready for V-day ’cause it’s coming. What better way to get in the mood than with some lingerie for a steal? My lovelies at Journelle are having their first warehouse blowout sale. I believe it’s across the street from their Union Square location, in the previous Sacco store. It’s starting tomorrow, Jan 14th. So be sure to get there before brunch.

*Update: my good friend Alex just reported that this couple is a REAL couple very much in love and they work with her at her auction house. How cool is that?!?

Inspiration to DIY

I dream of some day having my own workshop to tinker and hammer and polish. Came across this gem. What a fantastic idea! Flooring pieces achieve their ultimate destiny. No longer to be trampled on by dirt caked shoes and stabbed by heels. Now they will be ooohed and aaahed over, admired under yummy plates of family dinners. I’m feeling inspired.

Nina Ricci Pre-Fall 2012

While I don’t understand Pre-Fall (by that reasoning, there is a pre-spring, pre-summer, pre-winter?) I do understand that Nina Ricci’s collection is looking mighty good. Really living the gown below. Fishnet and leather gloves paired with chiffon and bows.
