Oscars!

I know, it was the Oscars again. It’s starting to feel like Restaurant Week does…”….Again???”

But I love these award shows. Not that I actually watch them. But I do so enjoy the red carpet scene. So let’s just do it quick because the weather is just too gorgeous outside to be spending too much time on celebrity dresses (not much of a challenge to look amazing when you have all the designers and jewels at your disposal).

Favorite!
Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab. Just beautiful, like she drifted out of a watercolor painting.

Followed by a very very close second:
Carey Mulligan in Prada. The whole look is edgy, adorable glamor on her with her little blond pixie do and the thick strapy shoes.

Now! Off to the park! At least for a bit before I continue my work.

Out of my shell

It’s a high of 59 degrees and sunny here in New York City. This makes me happy. And virtually every food store I walk into offers me what I consider to be my Ambrosia:
Oh yes. I feel born again. Winter has had me in a nasty state but this sickeningly sweet gooey center has me feeling myself again. I love everything about New York in the spring. I love that I have buried my puffy coat not to be touched until the Mercury falls below 37 again. I love grabbing my sunglasses every day. I love seeing what people are wearing. I love walking out with my Rainbows on and my toes free. I love that people are a tiny bit nicer, if just for a moment. Hip hip hooray for the coming spring!!

As a side, I saw Alice in Wonderland and ate too much too buttery popcorn in a theater full of kiddies who oh-ed and ah-ed at all the right moments. Loved it.

Be My Ballantyne
This whole Jodhpur thing isn’t gong away any time soon. Instead it’s been morphing into a look that I can appreciate. Like Mad Men when Bets goes riding. Like above. But the pants aren’t what’s tickling me pink about this outfit. I just found an old bow tie from my brother’s closet. And aside from making Munch wear it, one of these days I’m really gonna wear it myself. Probably to M’s dismay. But he’s used to this by now. However. I still don’t think I could ever wear the pants. It’s one of those leave it to the skinny models thing. Bow ties, sure. Cute, love. Pants that make me look shorter with giant saddle bags and stitching to bring attention to the crotch. Not cute, pass.

Friday at the Office

Our CEO is hard at work…
I should have taken a video instead because he’s pretty much half awake, half asleep and making funny grunting noises with his head wobbling to and fro. But as soon as I took the picture he woke up.

Obviously he was in deep thought about how to expand the company. Good CEO.

Curves Ahead

Holy ___.
In case you didn’t get to see last week’s cover of New York magazine…it’s not to be missed.

I’ve recently been watching old Monroe movies and while I find that it must have been exhausting for her to speak with sexy facial spasms, she really didn’t need to speak at all. Monroe just exuded sex. Now comes Christina Hendricks whose proportions haven’t been seen since the likes of Monroe and Loren.

To her dismay, Hendrick’s curves are always the topic of conversation. But we can’t be blamed. It’s so new, so refreshing. It will be interesting to see what happens when her time on Mad Men is over, what character she will be cast into next. Per her experience between seasons most want to cast her into ____’s mom roles because of her looks and Mad Men’s dated (but most excellent) costumes. Well. She’d be one hell of a MILF.

I will say however I am not a fan of the corset on the left. While the whole look is lovely and romantic-ish and vintage-y…it looks a bit department store. Which is fine, but not really fine at all.
